This course prepares the student to be a beginning healthcare worker in the
acute care setting or the long term care facility. The course consists of lectures
and clinical experiences given over a period of time during our Morning, or
Evening, or Weekend, or Fast-Track classes. Upon successful completion of the course,
the student is eligible to sit for the State Competency Examination for Nursing
Assistants in the State of California.
The Nursing Assistant (NA) program prepares individuals to help with the
routine care and treatment of patients in healthcare facilities. Nursing
Assistants work under the direction of nursing and medical staff. A Nurse
Assistant's job includes providing personal care, assisting with activities of
daily living, and maintaining the safety of his or her clients.
During the course of this program, the student will learn the essential duties
of the Certified Nurse Assistant. These will include how to interact with the
patient, how to monitor and observe the patient's condition, and access the
patient's needs. They will also learn about preventive health care measures,
and about interaction between drugs.
